A Star Is Born
Sometimes a movie can be remade again and again the results are ok. Take "Spiderman". There have been three different Spidermen recently including Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and most recently Tom Holland all taking on the role with varying success. I personally like the latest "Spiderman" because he is part of "The Avengers".
"A Star Is Born" was done in the in 1937 with Janet Gaynor in the lead, 1954 with the legendary Judy Garland and then in 1975 with the extradinary Barbra Streisand. So why do it again.
The movie featured Bradley Cooper as "Jack", a legendary rock singer and musician who discovers "Ally" played by Lady Gaga when he was heading home from a concert and she was singing at a gay club. The magic starts there.
There is nice chemistry between them but the story was very predictable. It almost duplicated the 1975 version. Bradley Cooper was great as "Jack". Lady Gaga was good as "Ally".
My only problem was that she looked overweight on screen. I saw her perform on the "Oscars" and she was wearing a big gown and looked pretty. They had her in so many tight clothes she looked like she couldn't breathe.
I thought it was fair and not as good as the 1975 version. They were good together but not as good as Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
