"Second Act" is one of the few comedies that does not have a Christmas theme. It is Jennifer Lopez's first major movie since "The Backup Plan" in 2010.
Mom and I have watched a few of her movies and she always a working class girl who comes from behind and changes her world. In "Second Act" she plays "Maya". She is the assistant manager of a local big box store who gets passed over for a promotion.
When her best friend "Joan" played by Leah Remini son creates a facebook and resume that is false she lands an interview at "Franklin and Chase" to become a consultant to work on their skin care line.
"Anderson Clarke" played by Treat Williams hires her to the anger of his daughter "Zoe" played by Vanessa Hudgens and she uses her smarts to work on a new project.
"Maya" hits many hurdles from within. In addition to "Zoe" she has to deal with "Ron" played by Freddie Stroma and "Hildy" played by Annaleigh Ashford.
To get there she had to give her boyfriend "Trey" played by Milo Ventimiglia and to face a secret she hid from everyone but "Joan" in her life.
The movie had great warmth and was touching. It had really nice moments. Mom loved the apartments they showed.
The ending was great and it was an enjoyable movie. If you like romantic comedies you should check it out.
