"Hotel Mumbai" was the story the "Taj Mahal Hotel" and the terrorist attack on November 26th 2008. The movie started with showing these young Pakistani boys sneaking into Mumbai India via boat.
Their goal was to kill people in many different part of the city. They ended up hitting a number of places. There were 257 people that were killed in the attacks. One of the biggest targets in the city.
The movie followed "Zahra" played by Nazanin Boniadi and "David" played by Armie Hammer. They were at the hotel with their nanny, "Sally" played by Tilda Cobham-Hervey and their baby. They were stuck in the hotel restaurant. Also joining them was Russian businessman "Vasili" played by Jason Isaacs. Also featured was "Arjun" played by Dev Patel. He worked at the hotel with the chef. He is married with one child and one child on the way.
The movie also showed the Pakistini terrorist, "Imran" played by Amandeep Singh who took part in the operation to make money for his family. One part of the movie made me cry when he was injured, doing things he didn't want to do, and then found out his family did not get the money they were promised. It was like everything was falling apart.
The movie was really sad but really good. I think it should have come out closer to Academy Award season.
If you want a good, yet sad movie check out "Hotel Mumbai".
